Money & assets2 min read
Precision starts with the asset.
Integer minor units, explicit asset identity, and financial records that never silently mix currencies.
Amounts are strings of integer minor units.
Money crosses domain boundaries as an amountMinor decimal integer string and an assetId. Internal arithmetic uses integer precision. Display decimals are presentation, not the persisted financial amount. Decimal strings, exponents and whitespace are not accepted as minor-unit amounts.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE
{
"amountMinor": "250000",
"assetId": "synthetic_htg_asset"
}
// Illustrative only. With exponent 2: 2,500.00 HTG.
// This placeholder asset is not a valid API identifier.A currency label is not an asset identity.
Asset definitions distinguish denomination, precision, issuer and custody or backing context. Bank USD, provider receivables, physical cash and tokenized USD do not become interchangeable because their display labels contain USD. Amounts can only be combined when the asset identity matches.
- Never net HTG and USD without an explicit approved conversion.
- Never treat a cash record as an electronic balance.
- Confirm provider amount units against authorized sandbox evidence.
